The Cayman Compass is the Cayman Islands’ most trusted news source, published both in print and online, covering breaking news, politics, finance, travel news, community events, human interest, and lifestyle stories. The newspaper is owned by a publishing conglomerate that also publishes multiple luxury magazine titles, lifestyle supplements, and owns and manages several radio stations and the Cayman Islands’ only TV station.
I worked for the Cayman Compass for over eight years, starting as a news journalist covering breaking news stories before transitioning into lifestyle reporting. I eventually became the newspaper’s lifestyle editor and then editor of Flava magazine, a luxury food and wine publication.

Working in fast-paced news taught me how to identify compelling angles, craft clear and engaging narratives, and understand what makes a story timely and relevant. I learned how to spot strong news hooks, interview with confidence, fact-check meticulously, and write under tight deadlines. These are skills that continue to shape my approach to content, storytelling, public relations, and editorial and marketing strategies today.
My time as a journalist and lifestyle editor also coincided with the industry’s rapid digital transformation, providing me with firsthand experience in adapting content for online audiences, learning the importance of real-time publishing, and understanding how data, engagement, and multimedia storytelling were reshaping modern media.
